INFORMATIONAL: ANCHOR 7

Above you will find several buttons that provide resources for this particular anchor. The organizer will be used during the video to guide you through analyzing the anchor standard. You can use the mentor text button to purchase books that I recommend in the video (please know I do make a small portion from the sales through this affiliate link. All proceeds will be used to offer teachers a free year membership to the community).

READING INFORMATIONAL ANCHOR 7

Reading Informational Anchor 7 refers to learners utilizing the text features and other forms of media to help in understanding an informational text further. Learners begin by connecting the information from text features and the information that is being drawn from the text. Learners will work to understand and explain how the images help the reader understand the information from the text further.  As learners progress through the upper grades, learners will begin incorporating other media formats to help them develop a coherent understanding of the overall topic.

  • RI.3.7 Use information gained from illustrations (e.g. maps, photographs) and the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g., where, when, why, and how key events occur).

  • RI.4.7 Interpret information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively (e.g., in charts, graphs, diagrams, timelines, animations, or interactive elements on Web pages) and explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text in which it appears.

  • RI.5.7 Draw information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer to a question quickly or to solve a problem efficiently.

  • RI.6.7 Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue.

In this session you will:
